Utilizing Speed Reading Technique for Students’ Ability in Comprehending Text

Learning to read in junior high school is one of the language skills that plays an important role. Reading skill third mastered by students having a role and mastery other subject matter. This study aims determine students' speed-reading ability. research used descriptive quantitative method. The population this were all class VIII SMP Negeri 35 Makassar with total 288 students. sample 36 sampling technique side random technique. Data obtained analyzed using percentage results data analysis showed from as respondents, only 20 (55.55%) managed score above 75. shows ability still poor because it under standard, which at least 85% respondents. Therefore, recommended teachers be more active learning support facilities are improved.
